Police Dog Blues by Blind Blake

For those of you playing through the new Rockshool Guitar Grade 3 book, you’ll eventually come across the piece called Old Bones Blues.  The piece is played in 4/4 time with a shuffle feel and uses the E minor pentatonic and E Blues scales.  You’ll be using plenty of techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs, double-stops, quarter tone bends and slides.  It’s a great tune and you’ll have a lot of fun learning it.

To help you to get into the mood of the blues genre and let you hear some early versions of the blues, here is a song by a ragtime/blues guitarist from the 1920’s called Blind Blake.  Arthur “Blind” Blake was born in 1896 and died in 1934.   You can read more about him here.

Here’s a lovely blues song by Blind Blake called Police Dog Blues.
