Welcome to Moray Music Lessons, where we're dedicated to nurturing musical talent and fostering a love for music! Before we embark on this musical journey together, let's go over some important guidelines:

 

1. Payment for Lessons
Moray Music Lessons uses a scheduling and payment system called Fons to book lessons, manage schedules, and process payments securely. Fons uses Stripe as its payment gateway, and all customer payment information is stored with Stripe in fully encrypted form.
 

When you first log into Fons, you’ll be asked to enter your payment details (a debit or credit card you usually use for online purchases). Lessons are paid for using pre-purchased lesson credits (called “packages” in Fons). You can choose to purchase these manually or set them to renew automatically when they run out.

Payment for lessons is taken automatically through Fons on agreed dates — usually after the lesson has taken place, unless you are on a monthly subscription plan. Payment in advance reserves your teacher’s availability for your scheduled lesson time; otherwise, your slot may be offered to another student.

If a payment cannot be collected for any reason, Fons will automatically attempt collection again. Please keep your card details up to date in your Fons account. Tuition fees are subject to review annually, and any changes will be communicated in advance.

2. Lesson Cancellations

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel a lesson, we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full, as it is very unlikely we can rebook the slot at short notice.
 

Please note:

• Cancellations should be made directly in Fons or by emailing tom@moraymusiclessons.com (or your tutor if you have their direct contact).
   

• In the event of illness or an emergency, please provide as much notice as possible.
   

• Missed lessons (no-shows) will also be charged in full.
   

• Lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice will be credited back to your Fons account for future use.
   

If you know in advance that you’ll be away (e.g., on holiday), please email us so we can adjust your schedule and ensure your package or subscription is correct.

 

3. Tutor Cancellations
If your tutor needs to cancel, we’ll make every effort to reschedule at a mutually convenient time. If that’s not possible, you’ll receive a lesson credit in Fons.
 

4. Attendance and Punctuality
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for steady progress. Please arrive on time to make the most of your lesson.

 

5. Conduct and Respect
We aim to keep Moray Music Lessons a welcoming and respectful place for everyone. Any behaviour that is disruptive or disrespectful may result in lessons being discontinued.
 

6. Instrument Care
Students are responsible for the care of any instruments borrowed during lessons. Any damage caused by negligence may incur repair or replacement charges. We recommend bringing your own instrument whenever possible so your tutor can help keep it in good playing condition.
 

7. The 3&1 Lesson System (Tom’s Students)
Starting September 2025, Tom will be offering lessons in a “3&1” format:
 

• Three weeks of one-to-one lessons at your regular time.
   

• One week of group-based sessions, open to all students, with topics ranging from beginner instrument groups to songwriting, recording, music theory, and band workshops.
   

This approach maintains the personal attention of one-to-one lessons while adding opportunities to collaborate, perform, and learn in a social setting. Group sessions are optional but encouraged, and they are charged at a lower rate than one-to-one lessons.

9. Privacy

We respect your privacy. Any personal information you share with us will only be used for lesson administration and communication purposes.

 

10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Any changes will be communicated to all active students and posted on our website.
